They say clothes make the man (and woman). What do your clothes say about you? If you buy virtually everything based on media influences and seasonal fashion trends, it says absolutely nothing about you. When you prepare for online dating with parship, forget about the labels and remember why you bought the clothes. It might be time to dump your old clothes and breathe some new life into your wardrobe.

Dating Style

Your partner deserves a little mystery and a lot of attention. Change your old habits and shake the cobwebs out of your routine. Try new restaurants. Ask for relationship advice from experts. Take a different path for your walks. Break out of your rut and show your partner you can still surprise them.

Personal Style

Beyond clothes are the accessories. Accessories are the accent of life. It may be time to change your hairstyle and try something new. The right hair stylist can do amazing things. Ditch the glasses and try contact lenses. Are you checking your phone for the time? A quality watch can be functional and stylish. Some classics never go out of style.

Professional Style

Dress for the job you want, not the job you have. Shake up the office with a new look. Trade in the trainers for dress shoes and the T-shirt for a collared shirt. Use a briefcase instead of a backpack. Trade your cheap biro for a classy fountain pen. It won’t be long before you get noticed.

Fashion No-No’s for Any Body Shape

No one person’s body is the exact same as someone else’s despite what we see on television. Clothes will naturally hand differently and look differently on each individual person. Here are some ideas to keep in mind when shopping for clothes that a woman of any shape or size should stay away from.

The best advice that any woman can get is to know what your trouble areas are and what areas to play up. Just because you are well-endowed doesn’t exactly mean you need them spilling out to draw the eye to that area if your middle is a little larger. In some cases this may accentuate your middle. The point is to know your bodies good and bad areas before you buy the clothes.

Stay away from horizontal stripes. Even if you are very slim horizontal stripes can make your body look wider in spots you may not want to accentuate. Perhaps not through your middle but maybe through your shoulders and this can make the body proportions look off. If you are a larger woman the horizontal stripes are a no-no. Your body’s widest areas will look wider.

If you want to keep updated in fashion, consider the new Direct TV packages that offer a good amount of fashion-related channels and shows where you can do research from. Every woman has the standard black dress or pant suit in their closet, if not these two items then at least some stand-by black outfit. This is a must-have in any woman’s closet. The trick here is to break up the color. An all-black outfit is boring on any woman. Take the little black dress for example; you can pair this with colored pumps and matching bag or shawl.

Floral tops can be worn long sleeved, short sleeved in the form of a tee-shirt, or even as tanks. Florals can also be worn in men’s fashion in short sleeved button-ups. These nice shirts can be worn with shorts and a nice pair of gladiator sandals, or boat shoes for men or even tucked into a denim skirt for women. Paired over a simple cotton tank or a banded tube top, these tops are trendy, comfortable and sophisticated. This trend piece is inexpensive and classic; it can be used in nearly any fashion season of the year, not just summer.

Lace tops

While only for women, lace tops are nice shirts that can be dressed down with leggings or shorts, or more fancy when tucked into a pencil skirt. Also, the type of shoes and accessories you wear with the lace top (most lace tops don’t need much jewelry with them) will determine the look that you portray while wearing your lace top.

The Tidal Patterns of Fashion

While the world of fashion is one that is often seen as an unregulated mass of denim, satin, ribbons and lace. In all actuality, though, there are rhythyms and patterns, influences that always reign supreme and dictate what is hot and what is not. Two things to always remember:

 

Fashion Theme #1: Whatever was cool when today’s 20-somethings were born, is cool again.

The late ’90s saw a surge in puffy vests, bell-bottom jeans, hippie smocks, and ridiculously tall shoes, the trademark designs of the dying disco age 20 years earlier. Currently, everybody wants to be seen in black horn-rimmed classes, vests, suitcoats, formal dresses and the “nice-clothes-worn-badly” motif of the ’80s. Belt buckles salute old-school Nintendos, and tape players are making a comeback a la retro electronics. The fashion world caters to the rising generation. Think of it; an entire industry turns on the desires of 15-25 year-olds.

Fashion Theme #2: If It Was Cool Before, It Will Be Cool Again.

It’s humorous every time the current generations reinvents the fashion wheel and thinks they have discovered a new fashion; haircuts from the 1920′s have been revived again and again, most noteably in the 1960s and early 200s. Odds are, if you have an awesome dress or shirt from your childhood, as stated in Theme #1, you’ll have a chance to wear it again in a decade or so. Moustaches, the rave in the ’80s and taboo in the ’90s, are unfortunately making a comback.

Fashion is fickle, but predictably so. If it went around, it will come back by again, and in the mean time, everyone will look fabulous.

Frequent car washes are important because they can prevent rust and abrasion from caked-on driving dust. Also remember to vacuum the interior. Some car owners even brush the fabric on their seats to keep it looking new. If you frequently park your car outside, consider a wax to shield it from damaging UV rays. People remember sun block for their own skin, but often neglect the paint jobs on their car—don’t forget it works the same way and can prevent premature fading!

The Power of the Accent Wall

Have you ever looked at a home and immediately had your eyes drawn to a certain wall or area? If so, this is generally because there is an accent wall. There are many different ways that accent walls can be done, but it is generally done for two purposes: to break up the monotony of a single color, or to purposely pull the eye to an area of the home.

When looking for apartments for rent, you may come across apartments that have an accent wall. Though at first it may seem a little off-putting, you will quickly find that it can be a great area to center your furniture. It makes for a great conversational piece and gives a unique look to your home.

If you don’t find an apartment that already has an accent wall, you may want to talk to your landlord. They may be willing to let you paint a wall a different color than what is already there to create an accent wall.

When making an accent wall, you need to be careful. You don’t want the colors to clash or to be too jarring. Though you want to draw the eye, and the attention, of the person viewing the room, this can easily get out of hand. Make sure that you use complimentary colors, rather than clashing. You don’t have to go with bright colors. You can go with dark, homey colors. Keep this in mind as you consider this home decorating option.

The first in the most powerful medium of covering fashion is the television or the visual media. What you see is going to affect you the most.
